The 2025 Metal Forming Industry Automation and Informatization Technology Seminar was grandly opened in Xuchang, Henan Province from April 27th to 29th, 2025.  Mr. Tian Jiangtao, chairman of Shandong Shengde Intelligent Equipment Co., LTD., delivered a speech entitled "Ten years of transformation: the innovation and development of screw press automation technology -- the evolution of the industry from mechanical upgrading to intelligent manufacturing"（See Figure 1），he shared the company's practical experience in servo direct drive screw press, as well as the digital and intelligent solutions for servo direct drive screw press, and how they can help customers increase productivity and equipment reliability, extend the service life of molds, improve product accuracy, enhance process traceability, and at the same time increase corporate profit margins.

The servo direct drive screw press developed by Shandong Shengde Intelligent Co., Ltd. adopts a permanent magnet servo motor to directly drive the flywheel of the screw press. Torque is transmitted through the magnetic gap between the stator and rotor of the motor - zero transmission (see Figure 2), which improves the torque transmission efficiency, reduces the failure rate and noise.

The low-speed and high-torque permanent magnet servo motor developed by the company (see Figure 3) has been successfully applied to the 315-4000 ton servo direct drive screw press, which has been tested in practice. And the permanent magnet servo motor required for the 6300-16000 ton press has been designed and completed. This motor has the following characteristics:

      The drive control system adopts a control system composed of motion controller, high-precision encoder and servo driver (see Figure 4), which realizes closed-loop feedback control and higher output energy control. The energy control accuracy is within ±0.5%, which ensures higher consistency of forming products, reduces processing margin andimproves production efficiency.The system adopts imported motion control unit instead of traditional PLC control to realize process control. At the same time, display the output energy, slider position, current, speed and other curves, refresh cycle up to 1ms; Integrated early warning system to protect machine tools and molds. Integrated with Industry 4.0 interfaces, reserved mechanical hand interfaces, and capable of remote maintenance.

The servo direct drive screw press of Shandong Shengde Intelligent Co., Ltd. has achieved digital production optimization: First, the control system of the servo direct drive screw press automatically collects and records data through its own sensors and sends it to the MES system.Second, the system uses this information for process optimization,equipment monitoring, energy consumption and efficiency analysis, and system status recording.Ultimately, these new data will once again serve as input parameters for process simulation (see Figure 5), and the intelligent forging workshop will gradually become a reality.

Shandong Shengde equipment monitoring system can conduct a comprehensive inspection of the press to prevent unplanned shutdown events. The intelligent diagnostic function of the equipment monitoring system can automatically analyze and archive physical parameters and control status, achieving rapid fault diagnosis, increasing equipment availability, improving production capacity and component quality, while reducing energy consumption.

Shandong Shengde's service App allows customers to get quick and comprehensive help and support through their smartphones.Through the App, the running status, parameter Settings, alarm information, temperature and pressure of the equipment can be viewed in real time, and the hidden trouble of the equipment can be predicted in advance to prevent it before it occurs

The intelligent assistant, the setting of a common electric screw press usually needs to be completed by experienced personnel, which requires setting data such as the slider stroke, motor speed (or striking energy), etc.However, the servo direct drive screw press of Shandong Shengde company realizes one-click setting through systematic integration, Only the striking energy is set, and the system automatically generates the striking stroke of the slider based on the striking energy to maximize productivity. Electric screw press punching the top has plagued the masses of users, we fully consider the problem in system development, slider return controlled by servo motor, return the location accuracy control within the plus or minus 1 mm, solved the problem of the sliding block header.

The digitalization and intelligence of screw press has just begun, we have done a little exploration, hope all colleagues in the industry work together, discuss and practice together, promote the development of forging equipment in our country. Finally, to borrow a word from President Xi: the road is far away, the line will come.
